Cooking for Food...

While I am in Northern Ireland I will be trying to save money by cooking most of my meals! I do cook. I am just not always that good! Or it comes in a box with simple 1-2-3 directions. I am going to try to step out of that group of culinary beings and try my hand at cooking "adult" meals and foods. I will be sharing this part of my Green Isle adventure on here..

Shrip Fried Rice:

Rice (cooked)
Shrimp
Onion (chopped in finely)
Soy Sauce

*Note: I have never cooked rice that took more than 5 minutes. I have never cooked shrimp. The store I went shopping at only had one choice of soy sauce. This left me unsure of how this will turn out!

It was pretty good. The shrimp tasted a little fishy, but I am not sure if it was because of my cooking or because of the shrimp itself. I think I might try this with chicken, some chives and maybe more veggies!

So glad to hear you are trying your hand at cooking...I think it will bring you much pleasure as you become more accomplished. And you will! Miss you on Thursdays. Love, Cherie

Hi Katie,

Here is my receip for Chicken fried rice. Ingredients: Chicken, rice, onions, peas, carrots, eggs and soy sauce.

Directions:
Cook Rice
Chopped chicken, carrots and sautee in fry pay with a little olive oil. Add finely chopped onions. In another pan I will scramble a couple of eggs. Once the rice is done cooking I will add to the chicken, carrots, eggs and peas. Pour soy sauce on top and enjoy. Some times I will add some fresh garlic.

Good luck with the rest of your cooking. I am looking forward to having a meal with you this Christmas.

Cheers

Brenda
